City Sprouts: Discovering Urban Farming

My Visit to City Sprouts, Singapore

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting City Sprouts at their Henderson location — a thriving community of urban farmers in the heart of Singapore. As someone who believes deeply in reconnecting with the Earth, walking through the plots filled me with a renewed sense of hope and inspiration.

City Sprouts is more than just an urban farm. It's a collective of passionate individuals, each tending their patch of green, building a community rooted in sustainability, biodiversity, and shared values. Across their sites in Henderson, Punggol, West Coast, and Pasir Ris, City Sprouts is gently weaving nature back into our urban spaces.

Exploring the Henderson Allotments

As I wandered the Henderson site, I was greeted by a lively mosaic of growing beds, native crops, and the warm energy of farmers and volunteers tending to the earth. Each plot seemed to tell its own story — of seeds sown, care given, and life emerging.

City Sprouts offers different plot sizes, and each greenhouse comes equipped with basic provisions like water points, with options for electricity if needed. Every space invites you to dream, plant, and nurture something meaningful.

I'm excited to share that I will soon be volunteering regularly at the Henderson allotment, learning more about urban farming and contributing to this beautiful community. It's a small but heartfelt step toward living more regeneratively in the city.

Growing Community Through Creativity

Beyond growing food, City Sprouts also offers experiential spaces for workshops, community events, and educational programs. Their mission goes beyond gardening — it’s about cultivating stewardship, sharing skills, and inspiring a deeper connection to nature.

I'm thrilled to announce that on the 23rd and 24th of May, I’ll be supporting a special workshop at City Sprouts Henderson in collaboration with Wildflower SG. For the first time, I’ll be providing my own batch of handmade natural pigments for participants to use in creating their own botanical artworks!

This will be an opportunity not just to explore natural dyes and pigments but to experience how art and nature can come together to inspire environmental consciousness.

A Space to Reconnect

City Sprouts embodies so much of what I believe Wilde Hippi stands for — slow living, community connection, and respect for the Earth. Whether you want to volunteer through their Project G.R.O.W initiative, take part in a workshop, or simply wander through a green sanctuary in the city, City Sprouts welcomes you.

If you feel called to start your own little patch of paradise, keep an eye out — their plots open for application when available, and the community is always growing.

For more information, you can visit their official website here.

I can’t wait to share more with you as I dig deeper (quite literally!) into this wonderful new journey.

My Learning Journey: Masters in Fashion Sustainability

This visit to City Sprouts also marks an important moment for my Masters in Fashion Sustainability progress diary with Falmouth University. As I document my learning journey, experiences like these are critical in bridging academic knowledge with real-world action. Understanding how urban agriculture, natural materials, and community-led initiatives work in practice continues to shape my evolving vision for a regenerative fashion future — one that is deeply rooted in local ecosystems, creativity, and collective stewardship.
