March 2025: Letting Go, New Beginnings

Closing the Chapter: Saying Goodbye to My Shop and Office

March cracked open my heart. After officially saying goodbye to the last of my team in January, this month brought the final chapter for my retail store and office. I’d held onto hope that someone might buy our hardware, but when that didn’t happen, I pivoted. Instead of dwelling on the financial loss, I turned the closing into a week of giving, donating stock, furniture, and supplies to social enterprises across Singapore.

A Week of Giving: From Letting Go to Lighting Sparks

What began as an emotional mountain turned out to be an unexpected gift. I met some truly inspiring change makers working at the heart of Singapore’s sustainability movement. Simone from City Sprouts is building a thriving ecosystem for urban farming. Claudia from Re-store is redefining upcycling with purpose and heart. And Jasmine from Cloop is leading Singapore’s largest textile waste management initiative with grace and grit.

These encounters reminded me that even in endings, there is fertile ground for new beginnings. I’m hopeful that the community I’ve started to connect with will find a space for me in the months ahead.

Writing Through It: Studying, Storytelling, and Self-Doubt

On the academic side, my Master's work stepped up a gear. I’ve been deep in writing my speculative fiction project, something I’ve always been interested in, but never formally crafted into a story. When it came time to run a feedback workshop, I panicked. With friends thin on the ground here, I moved it online… and was met by six beautiful souls who gave me thoughtful, honest reflections, special thanks to Tani for her time and generosity.

Workshop Wins and a Possible Podcast

My lecturer suggested the piece could even evolve into a podcast, and that feedback has stayed with me. It’s encouraged me to ground the story more, so I’ve begun drafting Chapter four to fill in the gaps and root the narrative deeper.

Juggling It All: Study Hours and School Holidays

And with school Easter break looming for the girls, I front-loaded my study hours to stay on track. It’s been a month of tears, late nights, fresh growth, and quiet wins.

Curious about how nature, emotion, and creativity weave through my work?

Take a moment to explore my photography series, What do you see? a visual meditation born from quiet nature walks and mirrored images that invite you to look deeper. These pieces emerged during a time of inner reflection, capturing the textures, shadows, and soul of the natural world. I’d love to hear what surfaces for you when you view them. Let your imagination wander, and feel free to message me with what you see.

Thanks for walking this journey with me. 🌸
